Bio

Janet is originally from Asheville, NC and received her Bachelor’s from Appalachian State University. There she majored in Computer Science and minored in English. Now she is a PhD student at NC State studying Computer Science. Her research in the CIIGAR Lab is focused on the use of Decision Intelligence, a human centered design system, in agriculture to help producers make more informed decisions. Previously she collaborated on a project exploring more ethical methods for measuring farmed fish which was published at the 2024 Animal Computer Interaction Conference. Janet hopes to explore how computer science can be used in sustainable and human/animal centered ways to make agriculture systems more sustainable and ethical.
