Bio

2026-27 GES Graduate Certificate Fellow

Jessica is a third-year PhD student in the Entomology program at NC State, where she studies the evolution and spatial ecology of insecticide resistance in mosquito populations. Driven by a passion for One Health research, Jessica is particularly interested in human-environment relationships and how they shape ecological and public health outcomes. Her research is informed by her interdisciplinary training as a Genetics and Genomics Scholar (2024–25) and Global One Health Fellow (2025–26) at NC State. Before beginning her PhD, she worked as a GIS analyst supporting natural resource management projects, where she helped inform decision-making that balanced conservation goals with competing land use and management priorities. Jessica received a BA in Integrative Biology with a minor in Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and an MA in Geography from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
