SUMMARY:AgBioFEWS Cohort 3 - Lessons teaching Responsible Research and Innovation principles | GES Colloquium [IN-PERSON]
DESCRIPTION:Colloquium Home | Zoom Registration | GES Video Library (current) | Video Archives | Podcast | @GESCenterNCSU | Newsletter \nLessons teaching Responsible Research and Innovation principles\nAgBioFEWS Fellows\nWebsite | Twitter #AgBioFEWS \nAgBioFEWS students will discuss their experiences teaching Responsible Research and Innovation principles to undergraduates during a recent Dolphin Tank workshop. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nFinal GES Colloquium of the spring semester! Note\, this seminar will be held IN PERSON in 1911 Building\, Room 129\, and will not be recorded. \n\nAbstract\nThe Responsible Research and Innovation principles are intended to encourage innovation governance that incorporates different stakeholder feedback throughout the development and deployment process to design technologies that are more robust\, better at solving problems\, and ideally result in the least risk across stakeholder groups. The four principles\, anticipation\, inclusion\, reflexivity\, and responsiveness\, each have their own attributes that contribute to this goal of designing “responsible innovation”. Our team of AgBioFEWS fellows helped organize a Dolphin Tank\, in which participants explored these principles through case studies and challenges to design a more responsible innovation. We report on our findings about how well participants incorporated these principles into their pitches and what they took away from the experience. \nRelated links: \n\nDolphin Tank event information\n\nPresenters\nGES students and faculty involved in the Dolphin Tank event: Modesta Abugu\, Ruthie Stokes\, Asa Budnick\, Amanda Mainello\, Christopher Gillespie\, Eric Butoto\, Greg Ferraro\, Jill Furgurson\, Nick Loschin\, Nolan Speicher\, Rex Alirigia\, Katrina Geist\, Rebekah Brown\, Amaja Andrews\, Jason Delborne\, Katie Barnhill-Dilling\, and Jean Goodwin. \n\nGES Colloquium (GES 591-002) is jointly taught by Drs. Jen Baltzegar and Dawn Rodriguez-Ward\, who you may contact with any class-specific questions. Colloquium will generally be live-streamed via Zoom\, with monthly in-person meetings in the 1911 Building\, room 129. Please subscribe to the GES newsletter and Twitter for updates.
