Bio

Lexie is a second-year biomedical engineering PhD student in the Joint Department if Biomedical Engineering between NC State and UNC Chapel Hill. Lexie works on using electroporation for more efficient delivery of CRISPR compounds into human cells. She is currently focused on using genetic engineering to treat Osteoarthritis, a disease state that is difficult to treat because of the dense cartilage tissue. Lexie currently has one paper published which introduces a collagen-based gel for the genetic engineering of cells in a 3D environment. Lexie, a world traveler at heart, has presented at multiple conferences across the world including two in Italy! She will have a podium presenting at the Biomedical Engineering Society Annual Conference this October.
