Note: This colloquium will not be live-streamed.
Welcome! The Genetic Engineering and Society’s weekly Tuesday lunch colloquium will kick off on August 27, as per tradition with a catered lunch from Neomonde. Come prepared with an appetite and to give a short update about your recent GES activities and upcoming plans.
THIS YEAR WE ARE CHANGING THE LOCATION OF THE COLLOQUIUM TO POE HALL, ROOM 202 (See ‘Venue’ below for details). In addition to providing us with a larger space, this new location is better equipped for recording and live-streaming. To make sure no one gets lost, we have included a map above.
The scheduled speakers for this semester reflect the incredible variety and reach of the GES Center’s work and affiliated scholars. A number of colloquia are linked to other GES Center activities this semester, including our Art’s Work in the Age of Biotechnology exhibition, An Evening with Margaret Atwood, and our AgBioFEWS PhD program. The schedule is still being finalized, and details will be added over the course of the semester. Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter (below) and check our website often for updates at go.ncsu.edu/ges-colloquium.
Many of our speakers are traveling some distance to participate in our Colloquium, and we often arrange for them to share meals and meet with GES faculty and students. Be on the lookout for a button to click on Colloquium announcements that allow you to express interest in meeting with a speaker during their visit. It’s a great way to learn more, expand your network, and help make our off-campus guests feel welcome at NC State.
If you would like to earn one credit for attending, please register for GES 591-002 and contact the instructor of record, Zachary Brown (zack_brown@ncsu.edu, with any problems.
