GES Field Course: FEW Impacts of Biotechnology in NC Agricultural Systems

An immersive field experience led by Drs. Dominic Reisig, Fred Gould, and Dawn Rodriguez-Ward.

Destinations

  • Thurs 8/1- Friday 8/2 in Raleigh and Clayton, NC
  • Sunday 8/4 – Saturday 8/10 in Columbia, NC

Field Course Objectives

  • To give students hands-on experience with farming systems and interdisciplinary team-building skills
  • After completing this course, students will have a basic understanding of:
  1. Local farmer practices, decision-making, and concerns
  2. Positive and negative impacts of engineered crops on FEW systems
  3. Perspectives of environmental groups and local citizens
  4. Responsible and effective engagement with diverse publics
