A career in the intersection between religion and science.

Special Guest Ken Miller joins us on October 16th for a morning discussion on teaching evolution, and an evening public lecture on the relationship between faith and science in “Human Evolution: What does it mean for Science, Humanism, and Faith?”

Ken Miller is a cell biologist and professor emeritus of biology at Brown University but he is best known for his work discussing teaching evolution and the relationship between science and religion. Miller was co-author with Joseph S. Levine on four popular biology textbooks, used in schools across the country. His co-authorship of these textbooks led to Miller’s involvement in science advocacy when he was called as a witness in several court cases in the early 2000s disputing the teaching of intelligent design in science curriculums. Since these appearances, Miller has written three books on the topics of evolution and religion, the Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District court case, and human evolution and reason.

Hosted by the Genetics and Genomics Academy (GGA) in collaboration with the GES Center, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Interdisciplinary Studies, Biological Sciences, and Philosophy and Religious Studies departments at NC State.
