Interdisciplinary Synergies and Discomforts | MBTP Faculty Mentors

September 10, 2021 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Interdisciplinary Synergies and Discomforts: Reaching Between the Natural and Social Sciences

How do we balance the need to develop deep and specific expertise in our graduate students with growing calls for interdisciplinary research? How do we manage interdisciplinarity in our own work? In this workshop, we will explore the synergies and discomforts of interdisicplinarity across the natural and social sciences. We will hear from two accomplished interdisciplinarians (an evolutionary biologist and an anthropologist) and collectively explore strategies to help our trainees navigate this landscape. Don’t miss this first session that will set the stage for our series!
